3 ways to have personalized
vows at your wedding

OK, we’re going to let you in on a not-so-secret secret…we LOVE it when couples write their own vows!! Why? Because it makes your day that much more special. It’s so easy to get consumed in all the details of the day…the linens, napkin colors, seating chart design, etc. etc., that you start to forget what the day is truly about. It’s all about the two of you vowing to share your life together forever.

When you share these words that you have written to one another, it has a way of bringing you back to the core of it all. It brings you back to the beginning of your relationship, how it all started, your first kiss and first “I love you.” There’s only the two of you and no one else (even if a couple hundred people are watching!!). It’s the best part of your wedding day and something that you will always remember and can always re-watch again and again.

To be honest, the thought of reciting personalized vows in front of friends and family terrifies a lot of couples. And that’s OK because we’re here to tell you that’s not the only option. Here are 3 different ways you can incorporate personalized vows into your wedding day.

1. VOWS DURING YOUR CEREMONY

This is the first way that comes to people’s minds when they think about reciting their vows to one another. If you are comfortable reading your vows in front of your family and friends it can be such a special moment not only for the two of you, but for everyone else who gets to witness hearing those heartfelt words that you have written for one another. And one of our favorite parts during your vows is to be able to capture the reactions of YOUR family members. When the father of the bride starts to get teary-eyed, you better believe we are going to get that on video.

2. VOWS DURING YOUR FIRST LOOK

Not every couple is comfortable getting emotional with their friends and family watching from their seats (We're looking at you guys!). A great option for this is to read your vows to one another during your first look. Doing a first look takes the pressure off of your ceremony, allows you to have an intimate moment alone, and gives you a chance to recite these personal words in private. Definitely a win-win and a great option for so many couples!

3. VOWS INTO SPECIAL NOTES

So what happens when you aren’t doing a first look and you don’t want to recite vows at your ceremony? Enter the wedding note. These are handwritten notes the two of you write before your wedding day and usually exchange in the morning or sometime before the ceremony. It allows you to get personal about your feelings and the vows you have for your future together without the added pressure. We always love capturing notes on video so that you have that audio 10, 20, 30 years from now!! How amazing is that?
